Vivo iQOO Neo 8 Pro and Neo 8 series smartphones were released on May 20, 2023. Smartphones are meant to be flagship killers, as iQOO aims to offer all that and more at a price point that the average consumer can afford. The company also announced that it will use a custom image processing system that fully utilises the new sensor to produce better images. You can only judge the camera’s quality when you use the phone.
We’ve created a review that includes both the Vivo iQOO Neo 8 Pro and Neo 8 smartphones so you can see how the cameras will perform. We have combined the reviews of both smartphones because the specifications of both models are very similar. We will also dig deeper into the review to see how the display, performance and everything else will be. Let’s begin with a detailed analysis of the Vivo iQOO Neo 8 Pro and Neo 8 smartphones.

- The same Li-Po 5000mAh Lithium-Polymer battery powers the Vivo iQOO Neo 8 Pro and Neo 8 with 120W wired fast charger support.
Design and Display
The Vivo Neo 8 and Neo 8 Pro have mostly stayed the same design as the Vivo Neo 7. Only the colour scheme and design of the camera module have changed. The design is just as beautiful as in previous Neo models. The Neo 8 Pro and Neo 8 look identical and have the same colours. The smartphone comes in three colours: Mint, Black, and Red.
The Black and Mint variants are glass-backed, while the Red variant only comes in leather. This gives the smartphone a more premium look. Leatherbacks are safer than glass for the Red variant. Both phones have a flat back with a camera module in the upper-left corner of the phone that houses the flash. Both phones have a body thickness of 8.5mm and a weight of 192 grams, which makes them comfortable to hold.
The 6.78-inch Full HD+ panel on the front has a 144Hz refresh rate with 1 billion colours. HDR10 is certified, and the peak brightness of 1300 nits allows the user to use the phone outdoors. The specs of the device offer a good viewing experience.
Memory and Internal
The Vivo iQOO Neo 8 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Generation 1 processor, whereas the IQOO Neo 8 Pro has the Mediatek Dimensity 8200+ processor. The Mediatek Dimensity in the Pro version is technically faster and better, but both chipsets are so powerful that you won’t notice the difference. Both chipsets are 5G capable so that both smartphones can reach 5G connectivity speeds.

The snapdragon 8+ can clock up to 1x3GHz, while the MediatekDimensity 9200+ clocks up to 1×3.35GHz. Both chipsets can run any smartphone app. The Snapdragon chipset’s Adreno GPU is as powerful for gaming as the Immortalis G715 MC11GPU that comes with MediaTek SoC. Both chipsets can easily run games such as BGMI Mobile, COD Mobile, and Genshin Impact. The chipsets are relatively cool, and they don’t overheat.
The Neo 8 smartphone has 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS3.1 internal storage. It can reach 16GB RAM and 512GB UFS3.1 internal storage. Neo 8 Pro starts at 16GB RAM with 256GB UFS internal storage and can go up to 16GB RAM and 512GB UFS internal storage. Both smartphones are powered by the latest Android 13OS, with either Funtouch 13UI or OriginOS 3UI, depending on their international or Chinese versions.
Camera
Both smartphones have the same dual 50MP camera system, producing similar results. The 50MP main camera produces pictures with great detail, rich colours, and a perfect dynamic range. Sharpness is excellent, and pictures are very crisp. This is also true for the 16MP sensor on the selfie camera.
The detail level is excellent. The selfie camera is as good as its rear counterpart and perfectly captures humans’ skin tones. The night photos from the rear camera and selfie camera are also well-lit, with plenty of detail. It is especially true if you choose the Night Mode. The Neo 8 Pro comes with an 8MP wide-angle lens, and the Neo 8 arrives with a depth lens of 2MP. The main camera can record videos in a maximum resolution of 8K@30FPS.
In comparison, the selfie camera has a maximum resolution of 1080p@30FPS. Both devices have gyro EIS stabilization. The overall experience with the camera is good, but it could have been even better considering the phone’s price.
Battery and Other
Both smartphones are equipped with Li-Po batteries of 5000mAh. The high-density battery has enough juice to last a day or two days if used moderately. If you play heavy games, the battery might only last for a portion of the day. There’s no need to worry, as the 120W fast-wired charger will charge the battery up to 50% in only 9-10 minutes.
Other manufacturers have chosen to leave out the charger in their smartphones. The phone also has Bluetooth 5.3, NFC GPS infrared sensor stereo speakers and a USB Type-C charging port. It supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, GPS, NFC. The Vivo iQOO Neo 8 starts at $357, which is approximately Rs 29,390 (in India). The Vivo iQOO Neo 8 Pro starts at $471, approximately Rs 38,790 (in India).
The conclusion of the article is:
The Vivo iQOO Neo 8 Pro and Neo 8 smartphones have powerful specs, including a stunning display, flagship processor, and excellent battery life. IQOO can offer a flagship-killing experience at a very attractive price. It lacks waterproofing and Gorilla Glass, but adding them would have required a compromise in the chipset or display. You want to maintain performance and gaming if you are a serious gamer.
Both of these smartphones offer excellent performance at an affordable price. The device lacks reverse charging and a better camera. The device is still a good option if you want a flagship-level performance. If you’re not a fan, consider the OnePlus11, which has the same Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor but is slightly cheaper. The slightly higher price is justified because OnePlus has a proven track record of providing good software support. You can check out the Samsung Galaxy M54 if you want a more advanced camera. The final decision will depend on your needs and requirements.
