Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Review

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i is a budget-friendly laptop explicitly designed for employees who work remotely and students. The computer is designed to offer an affordable price but still delivers in terms of productivity. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i features an initial fee of 26,990 in India. However, depending on the retailer you purchase from, our model will cost you less than Rs 34,990. But does the brand-new IdeaPad Slim 3i possess the capabilities to meet your productivity needs? So, stay tuned for a while to find out.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Review: Design and Build

The build quality is often the norm for laptops with low-cost components; however, this is not true with the IdeaPad Slim 3i. The notebook has a beautiful metallic finish that is brushed and comes in a Platinum Grey colour. Despite being slim, the IdeaPad Slim 3i is quite heavy, coming in at 1.85 kg. 1.85 kg. Lenovo offers the laptop in four colours: Abyss Blue, Cherry Red, Almond, and Business Black.

Furthermore, the hinge design seemed robust and could be adjusted to 180 degrees. Although there are some signs of plastic, we’d like to rate the IdeaPad Slim full marks for design and build quality, particularly given the cost. It didn’t feel one moment like a cheap laptop and was a lot more attractive than the majority of laptops in this price range.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Review: Keyboard and Trackpad

The IdeaPad Slim 3i features a standard layout for keyboards with spaced-out keys. The keys are well spaced out, and the travel of keys is very comfortable for typing. The keyboard was comfortable for everyday use, and the touchpad was reasonably spacious and smooth. The touchpad has enough space for the gestures of a swipe. The only drawback of the keyboard is the absence of backlighting.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Review: Ports

The laptop has three USB ports, an HDMI port, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone connector. Additionally, you get an SD card reader with the laptop. However, there’s no USB Type-C port on this model. There’s no Ethernet port either; however, Wi-Fi 6 offers rapid and stable wireless connectivity. I/O is undoubtedly one of the most vital areas of the IdeaPad Slim 3i; however, we’d like to see a USB Type C port on this device.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Review: Display

The IdeaPad Slim 3i sports a 14-inch Full HD (1080p) TN panel with 250 nits of brightness. The screen’s viewing angles are not, could be better, and the lack of an IPS panel is evident. Furthermore, the colours could be better represented on the screen; however, it’s adequate to be a good value. The screen is well-designed for work rather than for entertainment.

Performance

The Slim 3i IdeaPad Lenovo sent us the 10th Gen Intel Core i3 processor (Core i3-1005G1) with Intel’s UHD Graphics. The processor was coupled with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, which can be expanded to 12 GB. Our model came with an impressive 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD storage. However, it can be set up with HDD or hybrid (HDD + SDD) storage.

We typically do not recommend laptops with Core i3 CPUs, although the performance of the Slim 3i was satisfactory. It could multitask between MS Office apps, and Chrome was reasonably smooth, regardless of whether the laptop was powered in or operating on battery. If you plan to use this laptop to perform everyday productivity tasks, you will be able to handle delays.

Given the specifications, If you’re looking at its specs, don’t play on this machine due to its specs. However, some casual or mobile games that work on PC will work perfectly. When we refer to agreeable, it refers to “casual”. I tried a relatively older MOBA (Heroes of the Storm) and found obtaining any significant frame rat difficult.

In the Cinebench R20 single-core test, the IdeaPad Slim 3i scored points while scoring points in the multi-core test. This is an ideal work laptop, and it does a great job as a work laptop. Overall, the performance of this laptop was exceptional. However, we recommend choosing a model with at least 8GB of RAM.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Review: Battery Life

Lenovo says the IdeaPad Slim 3i can deliver up to 7.5 hours of battery life. However, this number may be exaggerated, as with many companies. In actual use, the number is more like the 5-hour mark than 7.5 hours. We got just less than four hours when multitasking and about five hours while watching videos. Considering the cost, the battery life was disappointing but still adequate.

Audio and Webcam

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i features two 1.5W bottom-firing speakers that feature Dolby Audio. While we’d prefer external speakers or headphones, The audio quality is decent, with audio from films and songs or podcasts being audible. The manual shutter for the webcam is another excellent feature, but the video quality is low.

Should You Buy? Here is the verdict below:-

To summarise, If you require an office laptop for work, it is challenging to come up with any reason not to buy the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i. There are certain areas where this laptop could be improved, but in all areas crucial to working efficiency, the IdeaPad Slim 3i gets it just right. In terms of price, it is undoubtedly one of the best laptops. Lenovo’s price-to-performance ratio is perfect. Sometimes all you have to do is master the basics, and that’s precisely the case with this laptop. Lenovo did this with its IdeaPad Slim 3i.
